Whenever I speak to a group or talk with a new client, they inevitably ask, “Christine, do I need to upgrade my account to get the most from LinkedIn? Is it worth it?”
There’s a mindset that in order to generate leads and be taken seriously, you need to have a paid account.
Do You Really Need to Upgrade Your LinkedIn Account?
I’m here to say you don’t.
If you have an effective plan for marketing yourself and use the right systems at the right times, you can absolutely generate leads with the basic account.
I know because I do it every day.
My clients who use my LinkedIn Marketing Power system generate leads every day on LinkedIn.
So if I can do it, and they can do it…you can too!
Here are the basic building blocks you need to maximize LinkedIn with a free account:
1. Your LinkedIn Profile
Like “all roads lead to Rome,” all LinkedIn roads lead to your profile.
Optimize your headline, summary, position titles and descriptions to engage and compel viewers to learn more.
2. Your LinkedIn Updates
Have a system and a plan to cultivate relationships, provide value, and differentiate and promote yourself so you’re seen as an expert, a thought leader, and stay top of mind with your Ideal Clients.
3. Your LinkedIn Groups
Similar to LinkedIn Updates, you want to share your expertise in LinkedIn Groups where your Ideal Clients are.
BONUS TIP: When you use the right system, it’s easy to drive traffic to your website from LinkedIn Groups.
4. LinkedIn Publishing
Get seen by all 350+ million members of LinkedIn when you access LinkedIn Publishing. Used effectively, this is an extremely powerful tool to position yourself as an expert and increase your visibility exponentially!

I have never paid for LinkedIn and I get amazing results every day just by being active through smart networking with my connections and in the groups.
I estimate that nearly 50% of my revenue last year came from LinkedIn alone. Provide value, connect wisely with your audience and provide meaningful conversations and meets people’s needs and solve their problems in a way that they want to learn more about you and you about them.
In the end, LinkedIn is a massive networking tool and for those who take the time to learn networking, it’s an incredible tool!
