3 Simple Steps to Social Media Updates in 5 Minutes a Day

Do you dread posting social media updates because it takes so much time and you don’t know how to find content to post?

If you answered “Yes!”, imagine how it would be if you could get your social media updates for your business done in 5 minutes a day…and it was easy and fun!

Your social media updates are a powerful way to share your expertise, promote your business and differentiate yourself from everyone else.

Here is the system I’ve developed that lets me do that effectively in 5 minutes a day…

Social Media Updates in 5 Minutes System 

Step 1: HootSuite.

HootSuite is a tool (free for 3 accounts) that allows you to easily pre-schedule your social media updates.

This means you can schedule your updates for the day in one sitting, rather than having to be in front of your computer to send them.

BONUS TIP: If you prefer to use more of a batch approach, use HootSuite’s bulk scheduler to schedule your social media updates days, weeks…or more…in advance. TweetDeck is another alternative, but you have to download it to your desktop.

Step 2: Your Content.

Pull from your own articles, speeches, videos, blog posts, etc., for easy and quick content to post.

BONUS TIP: Check your Google Analytics and see which of your site pages or blog posts have been most popular, repost them and drive traffic to your site.

Step 3: Other Content.

Draw from online industry sources by sharing their updates.

What are the top publications in your field?

For me, I often look to these sources: Entrepreneur Magazine, Inc., Mashable and American Express.

BONUS TIP: Use LinkedIn Pulse or Twitter lists (I have a dedicated “content” list, for example) as a go-to source for instant updates. Another advantage of doing this is that you’ll be up-to-date on the latest news in your industry…and being “in the know” is positions you as an expert.
