My Ideal Clients find me all the time on LinkedIn.
Not only in Groups and Pulse, but also in LinkedIn Search results.
Here’s how you can easily get found too.
First, if you want to appear higher in LinkedIn Search results for your keywords, be sure that your Profile ranks as an All-Star, and then be sure your keywords are highly…yet relevantly and compellingly…concentrated in these 4 places on your LinkedIn Profile:
1. Your Headline
Use your keyword liberally here…it’s your billboard…and your only chance to get a LinkedIn Search results user to click on your Profile…so have a compelling call-to-action.
NOTE: You only have 120 characters of valuable real estate which means that every word has to be powerful!
2. Your Summary
Sprinkle your keywords liberally here as well. Think of your LinkedIn Profile Summary as a mini-sales page and be sure to mention your pieces of credibility too.
3. Your Position Titles
Ignore the standard LinkedIn advice here…it’s so employees can be found by recruiters.
Instead include keywords that your Ideal Clients look for and that you want to be found for. For example, I use speaker, LinkedIn, marketing, coach, training in my titles.
4. Your Position Descriptions
Use your position descriptions to expand on your position title keywords and include compelling results to inspire your profile viewers to take the next step with you.
Not sure what your keywords are?
See your Skills section for the keywords LinkedIn has found in your current profile and go from there.
NOTE: If the keywords you want to be found for aren’t yet listed…add them now!
Beyond that…engage on LinkedIn to increase your visibility beyond LinkedIn Search results, position yourself as an expert and thought leader and stay top of mind!

Good to the point article Christine.
Interestingly, I did some research the other day in LinkedIn and searched for a unique phrase I found in a 1st level connections Advice for contacting me field. Her profile showed up in the search results. I did another search for another phrase found in two different profiles in different places and both profiles showed up.
This is not Power SEO info, but fact that LinkedIn’s search code goes very deep into our profiles, even for a single unique phrase.
