If you’re an entrepreneur or business owner with a LinkedIn Company Page, you’ll be thrilled to know that analytics are now available for your status updates.
But first, if you’re new to LinkedIn or not very active on the site, you might be wondering, “What exactly is a LinkedIn Company Page status update?”
Here are the basics:
> LinkedIn Company Page status updates are like the updates you post to your personal profile. They allow you as an administrator of your LinkedIn Company Page to directly engage with viewers and followers of your Page…and you can post and share items like your company news, promotions, relevant industry articles, and YouTube videos.
> You can post company status updates from your LinkedIn Company Page Home tab or via HootSuite (my preference because you can pre-schedule and post across all your social media accounts, for maximum effectiveness).
> LinkedIn members can see your company status updates on your company’s Home tab.
> Followers of your LinkedIn Company Page will also get the updates on their homepage.
> Any LinkedIn member can comment on, like, or share a company status update. Once a member takes action on an update, their network will also see the posting.
New: When you as a LinkedIn Company Page administrator comment on or like an update, it will appear as the company commenting on or liking the post.
You’ll see a banner like this will be displayed on your company page:
“Comment” and “Like” as your company
Now when you like or comment on updates on your company page, your activities will be displayed with your company name and company logo.
Company status updates can have text and a link to a website, image or YouTube video. as I mentioned above. They can be up to 600 characters (including spaces). Shared link titles and descriptions can be up to 250 characters each. I recommend you keep your posts to what will post on Twitter and again, use HootSuite, for maximum effectiveness. URLs will be automatically shortened by LinkedIn’s URL shortener.
So now that you know the basics about LinkedIn Company Page status updates, here’s the very exciting news:
If you’re using your LinkedIn Company Page to share engaging content with the over 450 million of the world’s professionals (the most educated and affluent social media audience), there’s now an easier way to track your page’s performance…you can now see analytics information on your updates!
Reporting for Company Page updates is visible to all administrators of a Company Page and is found below each update. Reporting includes:
Impressions – The number of times an update is seen by LinkedIn members.
Clicks – The number of clicks on the content, the company name, or the company logo.
Interactions – The number of times people have liked, commented on, or shared each update.
Engagement – The number of interactions plus the number of clicks and followers acquired, divided by the number of impressions.
Note: These numbers are available 24 hours after an update is posted and will update daily, except for likes and comments, which will update in real time.
With this new reporting, you’ll be able to:
- > Identify the updates that drive the greatest engagement
- > Filter engagement trends by type and time period
- > Get more detailed demographic data about your followers
- > See the growth of your follower base and benchmark it against similar brands
The LinkedIn Company Page analytics and Sponsored Updates (I wrote about them in this article) empower you to reach the over 450+ million professionals on LinkedIn around the world and engage them in rich and meaningful conversations.
More new and improved functionality is on the way, according to LinkedIn…so stay tuned!
