Yesterday I was talking with my client, Steve Cleere; a CPG Expert, Brand Builder and Marketing and Sales Counsel; about his marketing strategy to prepare for a trade show.
He wants to make the most of the opportunity to connect with potential clients since his new company, NexxtLevel Marketing, wants to increase its visibility and grow its reputation to attract more clients.
We talked about ways to connect with attendees and set up appointments during the show…beyond individual calls and emails…which can be very time-consuming.
Here are four other, more leveraged, ways I recommended he (and you!) reach out to fellow attendees before the trade show:
1 . LinkedIn. Reach out and connect with other trade show attendees.
BONUS TIP: Invite members from their profile so you can personalize the message and mention the upcoming trade show and other reasons why they would want to accept your invitation, e.g., mutual contacts, groups, etc. It’s an easy “yes” to start the relationship that you can then cultivate from there.
If you’re already connected, send a message to re-establish contact if needed and ask for the next step.
2. Blog. Write an article about the trade show and contribute to the conversation that’s already taking place.
BONUS TIP: Set up a Google Alert or search Google/social media sites to monitor the conversation about the upcoming trade show and engage as it meets your goals.
3. Social Media. Post consistent updates that you’re attending the trade show and invite engagement.
BONUS TIP: Use relevant #Hashtags for more visibility.
4. Newsletter. Share an excerpt of your trade show blog article with your newsletter list. I’m always so delighted by my community members who meet me when I’m travelling! And while online communication is wonderful…if you have a chance and it makes sense to meet…why not?
You just may get a fabulous new client (or more) who already know, likes and trusts you!
