While you can generate leads on all of the social media sites, LinkedIn is most likely your #1 choice for business networking and business-to-business marketing.
According to the 2013 Social Media Marketing Industry Report, 70% of marketers surveyed are using LinkedIn, and 64% plan to increase their use of the site.
And the top way to generate leads on LinkedIn is to use your own content.
Why is your content the most effective way to generate leads on LinkedIn?
Quite simply, because your content positions YOU as an expert in your field, as a thought leader and draws your audience to you.
But you might be thinking, “That sounds great, Christine, but what exactly do you mean by content? It sounds complicated…”
The term “content” might sound ominous or overwhelming, but on LinkedIn it just means what you share on the site.
So how do you share your content on LinkedIn to effectively generate leads?
There are two ways:
1. Your Updates
Whenever you post an effective update on LinkedIn, your contacts see it, it nurtures your relationships with them and builds the know, like and trust factor.
Even better is when they think your content is so valuable and compelling that they share it with their network…which instantly increases your reach and visibility!

2. Your Groups
The second way to effectively generate leads with your content on LinkedIn is to share it with your Groups.
Why Groups?
Because when you share your blog posts with your Groups it gives you the opportunity to provide value on LinkedIn by sharing helpful information with a broader universe of LinkedIn members…beyond just your contacts.
And when what you share is well-written and effective, it demonstrates your expertise and keeps you top of mind with your network…and generates leads!
So many of my new clients find me via LinkedIn Groups that posting to Groups is one of my must-do and regularly scheduled marketing activities on LinkedIn.
So LinkedIn really is the perfect place online to grow your network and your business.
By sharing valuable content with your contacts, you can add value to their lives and businesses, and you increase your credibility by positioning yourself as an expert in your field and a thought leader. And ultimately, your own relevant content is what is most effective for generating leads on LinkedIn!
