The newest update from LinkedIn, LinkedIn Pulse, could be exactly what you’re looking for if you’re a business owner or entrepreneur who struggles to easily and quickly find engaging content to share with your audience.
But first some background…
Many of my new clients ask me, “Christine, how do I find content to engage my audience? There’s so much information out there, but I don’t really know where to look to find what’s going to be effective and then how to sift through what I do find…help!”
You might be having the same experience yourself.
You just want an easy, quick, go-to, dependable, professional source for content that engages your audience so they get to know, like and trust you and deepen their relationship with you to become your clients.
It shouldn’t be that hard, right?
In my experience it can be really simple, easy and fast…when you have a system and you use a tool like LinkedIn Pulse.
I’ve been going to this app from LinkedIn on my phone and laptop more and more to find inspiring content to share and have grown to really rely on it and love how easy it is to use!
Here are the details on this latest update on LinkedIn:
Pulse and LinkedIn are now fully integrated to offer content tailored to your business interests both on the Pulse app and on LinkedIn.com. This is just the first step of many, according to LinkedIn, that they’re taking to ensure you’re getting a consistent and seamless content experience that is customized for your unique needs.
And starting yesterday, LinkedIn Pulse became the main vehicle for your LinkedIn social news experience across mobile and desktop and replaced LinkedIn Today.
In addition to a brand new visual refresh of the LinkedIn Pulse app, now any channels you follow on LinkedIn will also automatically sync across your LinkedIn Pulse app experience. It also means that the business news you’ve come to expect and rely on from LinkedIn just got better — because it’s been infused with added discovery and navigation functionality as well as expanded publisher content.
Here are 3 ways you can get started on the new LinkedIn Pulse app and exactly how to use it to easily and quickly find content that engages your audience:
1. Sync.
When you download the new Pulse app on iOS orAndroid, you will be prompted to sign-in using your LinkedIn profile. Once you’ve done this, LinkedIn will automatically bring in the channels, influencers and LinkedIn content you already follow into your Pulse experience. LinkedIn Pulse will also offer personalized content recommendations that are customized to your LinkedIn preferences and business interests.
For example, let’s say you’re a business coach. As I’ve mentioned in previous articles, you’ll want to use your industry’s top respected sources to stay up to date on trends and breaking news to share with your audience.
This means that depending on your expertise and audience you’ll want to keep tabs on what the Harvard Business Review is discussing, as an example, and share relevant content with your network. Not only will this position you as an expert in your field, you’ll also be seen as thought leader and go-to person.
2. Share.
LinkedIn made it even easier for you to access and share topics and news from your LinkedIn Pulse app. Try out the new, enhanced social sharing features, easily accessible within every piece of content at the top of the screen so you can instantly share an article with your network on LinkedIn and elsewhere.
Bonus Tip: When I find an article I think my audience will find valuable, I share the link to my email for later reference and then pre-schedule it to post via HootSuite when I need it. Trust me, having a ready stock of industry content to pull from on demand is invaluable when it comes to saving you marketing time and effort!
3. Discover.
LinkedIn has not only improved the overall search functionality with faster autocomplete suggestions, but they’ve also made it easier for you to find “What’s New” across timely world events and what’s trending.
For example, you can create unique lists in the “My Lists” section around topics like green technology, real estate or business, and discover new suggested topics via recommendations or easy right-to-left scrolling to see the next article within a channel or publication.
So whether you’re looking for inspiring content for your social media updates or wanting a quick overview of what’s happening in the world while you’re commuting or waiting for a meeting to start, you can use this app to quickly and easily share content that engages your audience.
And we all can find those moments in our day to help our audiences be even more productive, inspired, and informed so they can make better decisions about their businesses and their lives…and just think…you could help yourself and your business in the process!
As you can imagine, I am thrilled to see LinkedIn and Pulse coming together in this way. It’s fabulous that LinkedIn creates tools to integrate news and information so you can more easily and quickly engage with your audience, wherever you are. And according to LinkedIn, they have so much more in store.
